Question about 2003 Ford Expedition

1 Answer

I have a 2003 expedition. When I turn my a/c on

I have a 2003 expedition. When I turn my air on setting 1 or 2 it is operating normal. When I turn it up higher to the 3 or 4 setting, it begines making a loud vibrating noise. It seems to be coming from inside of the dash where I believe the fan motor is located. Could this indicate it needs to be replaced? Or are there other problems that could have these symptoms? Thank you for any help you can offer! -Diego's Mom

Passenger side on 2003 ford expedition keep dropping no air leaks

On that system you have 3 ride height sensors. 2 front 1 rear. Disconnect the linkage arm and try to move sensor arm. Should move with little resistance but not loose. If bound up replace, also check 2 remaining sensors. Behind the passenger headlight is your compressor and relay. You can jump the 2 fat wires together at the relay to activate the compressor. The relay has 4 wires 2 fat 2 skinny. They sell a conversion kit to elinmate air ride and have coil struts and shocks. I normally recommend the conversion so the problem doesn't happen again. Nice system till it goes wrong

2003 Expedition blows air but it is not hot. Any suggestions ?

1) Check your antifreeze level. 2) I have a explorer sport trac and after changing the heater core(pain in the a#$) I found out it was the heater control valve. Not sure if the expedition has this, but it is an easy fix if it does. It is plastic and has a little ball valve inside. The ball gets stuck closed. Good luck!

2003 Ford Expedition blowing hot air only. Is it a leak or major problem. Also there is a clicking noise in the back rear when you put the ac on

Sounds like your rear actuator for heat and cool is stuck in one position this normally happens when the plastic gears shear down, you will need to change out the actuator. You have two on the rear passenger side, one is for teh hot and cold and the other is for teh upper and lower air

When i use the normal A/C Or Max A/C, cold air comes out like normal. When I turn to floor or panel/floor, it seems like the a/c is still blowing. Am I missing something here? Isn't there a fresh air vent...

could have a vent not opening properly. be sure nothing has fallen down defrost vent. as you change positions on dial should change where air comes out.

2003 expedition doesn't blow air through the main vents on the dash, it only blows through the windshield vents

My 2003 EB had the same issue, until I took it to my local dealer. There is a TSB that calls for this part to be replaced. You need the following part number: 2L1Z19C828AA - HOS ASY-A/C VAC

Intermittent A/C flow when on "Max" in '03 Ford Expedition

Check the actuator motor on the heater if controls the doors that direct the heat and ac. It is an easy replacement part and as to the cost I wouldn't know but you can check price on line at autozone.

Air suspension

You don't necessarily operate it but you can turn in on and off. thats it. The expedition changes the height and stiffness by itself through a number of sensors on the vehicle. The on off switch is in the very back on the drivers side inside the removable panel.
