Cars today have a switch that shuts off the electric fuel pump in case of an accident. As all great ideas this one sometimes trips. Check your owners manual for instructions on how to reset the switch.
With a test light make sure there is battery voltage at the fuel relay if not check for a faulty fuse , if voltage is ok turn ignition on , relay should click and there should battery voltage at the cable going to the fuel pump, if not the relay is faulty. now go to the fuel pump and test for battery voltage there while a helper turns the ignition on and off , the computer will turn the pump off after a short while if the motor does not start, if there is no voltage at the pump with this test there is a fault in the cable to the pump.

Check for a burned fusible link under the hood. If you have power at the fuel pump relay, you could have a bad ignition switch or bad oil pressure switch...accordianman

A pinched fuel line. Or the sock and/or suction tube was improperly installed.

You may use another brand of relay (say Bosch) then let your electrician make a retrofit to match the connection of the original . Make sure that the current (amps) rating is the same or a little bit higher than the original. If you can't get a unit with higher current rating, use 2 or 3 and connect it in parallel.
