there is currently a recall being performed on altimas and there is also a updated crank position sensor check with your dealer for open recalls on your vehicle (its just a phone call away have your vin # ready (located on left bottom of windshield if your facing it from in front of vehicle it is on lower right side of windshield - also look on driver door jamb.

try pressing the hazards on and off if they still don,t work replace the flasher unit. it is built into the hazard switch( all one unit ) change this and all will be good.

I hate to sound dumb, but have you replaced the multi function switch also? Do your wipers only work when you press the wash button? The Multi function switch is the actual wiper/bright control/turn signal switch. They go bad often in these models, I have a 96 town and country (108,000 miles and still love it) and have had the same problem.I have also heard of taking the wiper motor apart and cleaning the contacts (which I did, to no avail). I first started with the multi function switch, went on to the wiper motor and I cleaned (scraped) every electrical contact that has to do with the wiper, I pulled the BCM and checked for any cold solder joints, and I am currently waiting for my ordered new BCM and I hope that is the problem.
Testimonial: "I will check the multifunction switch today. Thanks."

Hello, this is a very common problem for Chevrolet. Your wiper motor control module is bad. It's mounted directly onto the wiper motor. On some models you can replace the "pulse board" inside the control module. If not you need to replace the entire wiper motor control module. It depends on your level of skill and parts availability.

I had this problem (wipers only work on high) with my 2002 Chevy Malibu and had to replace the 6 amp diode (22059733) on the wiper control board. It is connected to the back of the wiper motor and is held on by 3 torx screws.
Radio Shack has them for $2.75 6A, 50V Rectifier Diodes (4-Pack) Model:276-1661

Low Speed Operation
When the wiper switch is in the low speed position, ground is applied through the switch internal resistor and the wiper switch low signal circuit to the body control module (BCM). In response to this signal, the BCM energizes the WIPER PCB relay by applying battery voltage through the wiper relay control circuit to the coil side of the relay. This allows battery positive voltage from the WPR fuse to flow through the switch input side of the WIPER PCB relay and out to the switch input side of the WIPER HIGH PCB relay. Since the wiper high relay is de-energized and its switch contacts are normally closed to the low speed control circuit of the windshield wiper motor, the motor will operate at low speed.
High Speed Operation
When the wiper switch is in the high speed position, ground is applied through the windshield wiper switch high signal circuit to the body control module (BCM) indicating the wiper high speed request. In response to this signal, the BCM then energizes the wiper PCB relay, as stated above, and the wiper high PCB relay by applying ground through the control circuit to the coil side of the relay. With the wiper high relay energized and its switch contacts closed to the high speed control circuit of the wiper motor, the motor will operate at high speed.
Wiper motor high speed operation and the wiper high speed PCB relay can also be commanded ON/OFF by using a scan tool. Refer to Control Module References.
