My friend's VW golf turn lights and hazard lights do not work

I'd like help my friend on her VW Golf 2000. the problem is that the turning lights and hazard lights do not work, I checked the bulbs and they are OK. We kept playing with it and some times it would work for a couple of seconds.
Then later on I realize the stop light were not working eighter but they would work for a couple of seconds including the turning lights.
I believe it may be a short somewhere but I have not idea of where to look. Or do you think it may be the relays?
I'd appreciate any help
Thanks
Fernando

My 1998 vw golf mk3 hazard lights wont turn off?

Replace the hazard swirch. I know on the Jetta, the hazard switch/indicator unit were all in one part of the hazard switch. Pull it out, unplug, plug in another one and see if it solves the problem.

How do i get the luggage compartment light off in my 2000 vw golf

if its only the trunk light then the switch in the latch is bad, but if its all your interior lights then check the dimmer switch, this is the button that controls the dash light brightness its located near headlight switch its a wheel type and if its all the way up it will turn inside lights on until its turned down. hope this helps.

Vw golf 1994 indicators

Hi,

Most Golf and Jetta have their relays bunched together with the fuse block. Often, it would be inside the fuse box/compartment located under the facia panel, on the right-hand side, behind a removable cover. On most models, the flasher relay would be labeled 21.

Incidentally, sometime ago, there was a recall on some Golf where Volkswagen dealers will install a new hazard flasher switch/relay kit to remedy a common issue. You may want to try first Volkswagen at 1-800-822-8987.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
