Part runs $225.00 - $350.00 depending on supplier and shipping and at least that much in labor.

The fuel pump is inside the fuel tank and it has to come out to replace the pump. The fuel pump will range between $60.00-$100.00 depending on the engine size. Shop labor should be 1-2 hrs. Be sure to call around for pump prices because they can vary. Make sure the engine size is right.

Parts and labor around $500 to $600 but that is up to the repair shop you take it to keep in mind the fuel pump fuel filter and strainer alone cost around $300

Will not start. no gas getting to carburater.put gas in by hand will start?

First, I would like to know where on earth did you find a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban that is equipped with a carburetor??? I would like to see that one!

You need to check the fuel pressure at the fuel pressure test port. If the fuel pressure is low or there is no fuel pressure at all, then you need to iagnose your fuel delivery system - fuel pump, fuel pump relay, fuel pump circuits, fuel filter and the fuel pump relay circuits to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)

If the fuel pressure is OK then you need to diagnose your electronic fuel injection system - this includes first scanning the PCM for fault codes to determine if the problem is being caused by one of the sensors or the antitheft system.

The MOST LIKELY cause of your problem is a bad fuel pump, but I would not run out and buy a fuel pump and pull the tank out of a Suburban without checking the other things first.

Fuel pump needs to be replaces on 2000 Chevrolet suburban, do I also need a new filter, relay and induction?

Do you know for sure that the fuel pump failed or do you have a bad relay? If the fuel pump relay is good no you don't need to replace it. The fuel pump unit comes with the sending unit and a sock filter. I would replace the inline fuel filter when you replace the pump. In line fuel filters need to be replaced every 36000 miles. If that filter starts to plug up it makes the pump work harder which leads to premature failure.

That "whine" is the fuel pump inside the tank. This usually gets louder at or below 1/4 tank. Expect the fuel pump to go out soon.

Trying to find the fuel pump FUSE.

There is no fuse specifically dedicated to the fuel pump on this year and model of Suburban. This Suburban is equipped with dual tanks and as such has two relay switches, primary and secondary, both of which are located at the main fuse box in the engine bay, that power up the respective fuel pumps.

The closest fuse (15A) controlling either of these relays also powers up the main control module (located beside and below the main fuse box). So, if one needs to disconnect the fuel pumps from functioning, then the only effective method is to disconnect the fuel pump relays.

FUEL+MESSAGE CENTER GO LOW FUEL

I had the same problem, then fuel pump failed shortly after, the sender for the gauge and message center are built in to the pump I believe. Once the pump was replaced, all was well. From my inderstanding, GM had problems with the fuel pumps for a while, but they will not pay for it, and if you go to the dealer, expect to pay aruond $800
