Question about 2005 Toyota Camry Solara

I have a 2005 toyota Camry 106K miles. Today it

I have a 2005 toyota Camry 106K miles. Today it started clunking to a stop. It shifts fine both up and down. No power problems. Sounds like I have a bowling ball rolling around (for lack of a better discription). No noises when driving or braking, however just before it gets to a complete stop it clunks (feels like a hard transmission shift in an old chevy, LOL). Any ideas?

It runs great. I drove it avoe 100 miles today and sounds good. No noises, shaking, nothing. Just a clunking sound and sutter just before it stops.

Unless there is a check engine light on it's not a solenoid or electronic control issue, it's hydraulic or mechanical.
Try changing the fluid and use the correct Toyota specified fluid or equivalent, Valvoline MaxLife is a good substitute.
If the drained fluid has any metal particles or friction material it's sign of deeper problems.

Just started to pull away from a stop in 1st and

sounds as though your input shaft broke, this would cause a loud clunk, cause it to feel as though in gear, and cause no pull.

1997 Toyota Camry engine problem, what could it be?

Could be MAJOR.

The clunking as you describe it could be you lost a main bearing or rod bearing.

Either way ya look at it, with that many miles and a "clunk"...its going to cost a good bit to get it fixed, or replace the motor.

2005 camry front control arm bushings

I've been working at a Toyota dealership for a long time and I have never seen lower control arm bushings wear out at 50k..or 100k for that matter, unless the car had been in a major accident. If they were bad you would have heard a lot of clunking noises driving over bumps and turning.
I think you should find another dealer and get a second opinion.

Sounds like you need the updated engine computer for harsh shifting. Look up under the glove box at the computer. Number should be 89661-02K21 if not, you need the update. It is an 8/80 warranty item.
