Always run the fault codes first to find any transmission problems
check for oil level in the transmission
check for transmission pump pressure
check for oil condition --may just need a service
If any shop suggests a transmission change , get two other opinions and quotes first
Best if you only use accredited auto specialists shops that handle your make of car

SOURCE: engine produces little power on

1st question - when was last tune up? Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, all fluids & filters including fuel filter. I'd start there and run a good fuel system cleaner through it. Another thing to watch for that Pontiacs are notorious for is timing chain & gears going bad. Right about 70k-90k you're in the "dark zone" and they give little or no warning. You might consider changing them out also.

Transmission has been fluttering a while now. Today after much rain and running through much standing water the fluttering got worse and even slipped some. Why?

Steve, Please post what type of vehicle, model year, and milage..I'm guessing you need a transmission filter and fluid change..NOW... take it to the local transmission place .....or better yet ask around and see who is the best transmission shop in town..(the best mechanics usually hang around the local drag strip)...

After setting through major wind and snow storm ....started car and let warm up it started skipping/fluttering and there was a little screen peices under front of car when i moved it from up around rear of...

rotten eggs is cat gone, flutter is there is a loss in back pressure on the engine, this can happen if the cat gets cooled down to fast ie left on grass or snow. the cat inside will crack and as soon as you start the engine it fires it into the exhaust and damages the exhaust.

Door locks fluttering from time to time when you use remote & continue to flutter on and off for a while.

The actuator is causing the fluttering. When they are starting to go out, the locks will flutter. It seems to have more problems in the cold, because the lubrication in the actuator gets thick when it is cold.

99 Sable - hesitation or flutter at 35-42mph - service light on

I had the same EXACT problem on my 2002 Sable. Freaked out thinking I needed a transmission.
All I needed was a tune-up. When not firing properly, sensors "take over" to compensate.

Check plugs/wires...you'll be surprised...I sure was!!
