Labor for a transmission swap 2001 f250

Whatever it is, multiply by at least three if it is a 4x4 as opposed to a 4x2. Tranny's are between the bell and the XC on a 4x4, so you've got to pull them both (the tranny and the XC, not the bell necessarily). That said, if there is any hint of issues with the torque converter (automatics) change it out while you are in there. For manual transmissions, it doesn't matter how worn the clutch is, change it. You don't want to pull a tranny and defer replacing the clutch. Doing so would not be wise. :-)

Replace Slave Cylinder 2002 VW transporter

The heading is replace slave cylinder of 2002 vw transporter. Why would you be removing the tranny to do this job as the slave cylinder is on the outside of the bell housing. IT is normal to remove the bell housing with the tranny as they are normally one unit as the bolts are inside and cannot be reached until the tranny is on the ground. Having said that, if there are 4 bolts in a flange outside the tranny proper and the bell housing is tightened with these bolts then you can remove the tranny separate to the bell housing.

My e39 m5 tranny won't marry to the motor and I cannot put the bolts in there's at least an inch gap between the tranny bell housing and the motor why?

I would say the torque converter came out of the trans pump
Shake or move the converter until it seats
While your in that situation, did you put at least one quart
of fluid in the converter? Good idea while you can still drop
trans some & pull the converter.
I have seen trans burn up on the lift, after a rebuild, for many reasons ,some you don't need to know about.

61 apache truck 6 cylinder with 4 speed, what would all need done to fit a 350 in? I mean would tranni bolt up? I know fuel and ignition would need alittle changing and maybe the motor mounts but I...

you can get a new bell housing to fit the tranny to bolt to the new engine. you should be able to order one on-line. you will just have to make sure the tranny will handle the new engine. you will have to drop the tranny to put the new bell housing to the transmission. its not a very hard job, maybe a couple of hours

I just need to know the type of manual tranny fluid used in a 93 sonoma. I tought it was 90 weight, but others are saying that at some point they switched to dextron

Hello charles87: My name is Roger and I can help with your answer. If you have a Borg Warner T5 transmission the you use Dexron 3 transmission fluid. You can tell the T5 transmission by the bell housing splits from the body of the Should you have a New Generation Gear 3500 transmission You would use Syncromesh transmission fluid GM part # 12345349. This transmission has a one piece bell housing and transmission body. Please rate the quality of your answer as this is how we know your answer was correct. Thank You for using FixYa. Roger

Need Directions to Replace clutch in a1993 5spd.toyota 4runnerV6

start off bt taking off your shifter, then disconnect the wires, cables, and the 4x4 linkage, the drop out both drive shafts, support the tranny and transfer case then remove the tranny mount. take out the bolts on the bell housing that go into the motor the pull out the slave cylinder, and the last thing to remove is the cross member that holds up your tranny. after that slide the tranny back about 6 inches tor until it's free from the block and lower it down. after you get it on the ground pull of out clutch fork that is in the bell housing of your tranny, pull the bearing off the shaft that is in the bell housing as well. and last but not least take off the clutch plate ans the clutch disk that is on the fly wheel on your block. and i cant stress this enough be careful when you pull the tranny out and make sure it will not fall on you. so please do it carefully. And take your time.

Need to change shift fork,

Transmission are kinda tricky. Yes you'll have to take the t-case off. Transmissions won't just fall apart when you break them open. But first things first. What's it doing. And if you don't really know anything about transmissions, I would give it to a shop to rebuild. Won't cost very much.
