Question about 2005 Chrysler Pacifica

Abs light comes on while driving @60 mph, then it goes out. When I brake at a stop sign, the brakes grind. I just had front pads replaced, had rear brakes repaired a month ago. Anyone have any ideas?

Take it back to the person that supposedly changed your pads and complain that something is grinding now.......make them fix it right!

I have a 99" Ford Windstar LX, When I press on the brakes the pedal shakes and it makes a grinding noise after driving a few miles the abs light goes on. I have replaced, pads, rotors, master cylinder,...

if you replaced all the brake parts I would check your hub bearings and cv axels if the noise is coming from front if the noise is in the rear check your e brake shoes located inside of the rear brake rotors if u have disc rear brakes or your rear brake bearings .. hope this helps

you have wheel bearings failing
the random abs light is the rotor for the sensor touching the sensor head because the wheels are loose on the shaft

ABS not working

It sounds like the front brake pads are worn to the point where the caliper piston is over extending, this can cause a lock up condition and damage to brake rotors. If you have no brake repair knowledge, take it to Midas ASAP. Safety is critical so don't delay Brake Pad service.

First thing with brakes is to check the lining thickness. You can usually see the fronts through the wheel, or look underneath. If you have drum brakes in the back there may be a rubber inspection plug.

But if linings are ok, another risk is wheel bearings. You would then feel it as a vibration in pedal, and through steering wheel if a front bearing.

With the light, have the ABS code read with a ODBCII module. Autozone can do this for free.

the abs light on the dash should come on when the abs is working (emergency braking)if it comes on when braking normally(gently)chances are a sensor is gone(replace in pairs, fronts & rears)
abs stops the wheels from locking up in an emergency brake situation, you will feel the grab-release,grab-release on the brake pedal......

My escape is making a grinding sound, along with pulsating when braking. My husband has replaced the abs sensor, and it is still doing te same thing. Any suggestions what to do next?

The grinding sound when braking is almost surely worn brake pads. If an abs sensor is bad it will set the abs light on. Heres an easy way to figure whether to look at the front or rear brakes first. When braking, take notice as to whether the vibration is felt more in the steering wheel or the seat. If it is more in the steering wheel take a look at your front brakes first, and obviously if it is felt in the seat look at the back brakes first. Both front and rear need to be checked out because the pulsating you are feeling is due to rotors or drums that have been heated up and warped. In order to fix both problems, you most likely will need brake pads and rotors/drums. If you just replace the pads, not only will the pads wear away faster due to the damage to the rotors/drums, but your vibration issue will not go away and infact may intensify.

Abs breaks

generally speaking, if that condition happens while braking coming to a stop under maybe 5--10 mph it indicates a wheel speed sensor is no good or a bad connection. if the front wheel bearings have sensors inside them they should be ok. there are sensors at both rear wheels as well. the true diagnosis is to have the abs module scanned for codes and that just may point you to that particular wheel to address.
