Question about 2002 GMC Sierra 1500
While driving, the transmission intermittantly ''appears'' or ''feels like'' it has gone into neutral. Engine starts to rev up a bit. I then will let off of the gas pedal a bit and transmission then re-engages. This has happend traveling at 55 -65 mph in fourth gear (overdrive) and I have down shifted to third gear and it has also happend in third gear. This problem is intermittant. Truck may go for several weeks before it happens again. No check engine lights have come on. Engine's performance is never affected when this happen (ie stalling, temp rising etc) Transmission fluid is clean and no burnt smell. No shaving in pan.
When not experiencing this problem, transmission works totally normal.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this to happen?
