When it dies? Little more info could be help full to figure it out real problem...
after change all that things still have same result as old parts can mean your problem was caused by out of that list.
fuel pressure test,vacuum gauge, ignition test, cylinder leak down or compression tests will help to find real problem.

My 97 was doing this, I too put a lot of money before figuring out that it was a bad coil and coil wire. Works great now. Do you have the 4.3L

I'm assuming you replaced the fuel filter when you did the pump.
You'll have to try to figure out if you are loosing fuel to the injectors or spark to the plugs to proceed.
Its possible something is failing inside the distributor among other things.
I'm also assuming you have checked the computer for trouble codes.

Try motor to body ground ? wiring harness connections..

The condition you describe is usually caused be a vacuum leak. You should check all vacuum hoses for tightness.
Maybe PCV valve or things on that system.

Go to the parts store and get a noid light for your truck, plug it into the injector electrical and turn the engine over to see if there is electrical pulse, also check the fuel pressure, the pump needs 9-13 psi with the engine running. you know if there is no pulse your going to need to check the wireing first. let me know

Pressure shouldn't be higher than about 35psi...If it's higher check the pressure regulator and also make sure the return isn't obstructed. Yours should have the regulator mounted on top of the pump assembly and is combined with the filter.

possibly 4 things 1 bad ignition coil heating up then breaking down,2 clogged fuel filter,3 weak fuel pump,4 bad throttle position sensor or map sensor to check sensors simply put on hand held scanner and look for codes. replace fuel filter replace coil pack along with tune up plugs wires put fuel pressure gauge to see if fuel pump is working properly

fuel might be thickening -try an anti-gel or other fuel additive-also get fuel pump pressure checked
