Question about 1989 Toyota Camry

1 Answer

I left my manual transmission 2000 Kia Sephia sitting in my parking lot for the last month while I drove my other car, and I go to move it today, and it was having trouble moving forward and reversing. I had to push the accelerator almost flat just to get it to inch along in either direction, and the whole time it smelled like burning rubber. A guy told me that the front and passenger tires were rotating. However, by the time I forced it to move 100 feet, I stopped, got out and saw that the rear driver?s side tire had left skid marks the whole way. Normally I leave the e-brake on to park, and I pushed the lever down like normal before starting, and it didn?t have any resistance. However, by the end of this ordeal, it was difficult to move up and down. I lubricated both the e-brake and the rear drum brakes and tried again. The e-brake now has some give, but the rear driver tire seems locked up still.

It sounds like the parking brake return spring has broken or come loose. The only way to know is to pull the wheel and drum and take a look. It sounds like the pads are still closed against the drum and haven't released. Hope this helps.

I have a 2000 Kia Sephia with an automatic transmission. It starts and runs fine, but all of a sudden, it won't shift into any gear. It won't make a noticeable sound or action while shifting from...

all of a sudden- lkike your driving down the road and it stops working? or your stuck at home? so what I gather is you have a good running car that wont move.... a couple of things to check.. look under the hood at your transmission... there is a link from your shifter to the tranny. have someone else move the lever from frive to low gear to park etc.. then you look under the hood and make sure the cable is still attatched to the trans. if it is attatched and not moving you might have a freyed cable... if none of this is working you prob. need a new tranny
hope this helps

Where do you find the fill rea for automatic transmission fluid on a 2000 kia sephia? I swear i cannot find the fill area - found the oil, power steering & brake - but not the transmission fluid fill

There is no fill cap. simply use a small enough funnel that will fit in the dipstick tube for where you check the transmission fluid at. Add it directly down the dipstick tube. Make sure when you check it after applying some that your car is running. Also to get accurate reading let it sit a minute so it is not on the side of the stick.

Have a 2000 Sephia....grandson drove it..parked it in driveway....put in it park and now it won't come out of park.

Seems the shift interlock solenoid may have no voltage to it when you apply the brake or it may have gone bad .I would check voltage first it gets voltage from the brake switch when you apply the brakes. You can manually shift it by removing that little plastic cover next to the shifter and inserting a screwdriver into the hole as you push down on the shift interlock shift the gear shifter.

Car wont come out of park

next to the shifter is a small cover, take this cover off and push in with your key or screw driver, this should let you take it out of park.

WIll not shift out of park

it could be a malfunctioning brake light switch on the brake pedal. this is the switch the allows the gear shift lever to be moved from one gear to the other. You should also check the switch for proper adjustment.
