Question about 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier
Driil a small hole, 1/4 in thru the backing plate near the bottom in the center. Use a screw driver and back off the adjuster.

If you go to autozone.com and register for free you will have access to a full online repair manual and they will show you step by step procedures for the entire drum brake job. They are showing an access port in the brake backing plate that should have a plug in it to keep water out. Hope this helped and good luck.
