1986 ford f150 shuts off when it gets hot. We replaced the throttle position censor, temp. coolant censor, distrubitor cap and rotor. Have also checked and replaced spark plugs. Cleaned out the throttle body. And also put fuel injection cleaner in it.

Is there an electronic module in the distributor that fires the coil? It may be failing with heat.

A ford 2000 f-150 and the motor will not get hot. replaced radiator, thermostat, hoses, heater core, reservoir cap, fan clutch. Any ideas?

Ya the coolant temp sensor is probably bad. This would show no or little reading on your temp gauge.

My 1986 Ford F-150 5.0 EFI runs good, but when I start it it revs to 1700 rpm untill I give it a little gas then it drops to normal rpm. How do I stop it from the high revs when started?

Does it rev high when started cold or hot? If it does it either hot or cold, check the throttle position sensor on throttle body. If that is not bad, then check the automatic choke sensor.

1995 ford f150 6cyl - runs rough when cold. Then

Check the coolant temp sensor (the one that speaks to the ECU) which acts like the choke on a old carb type engine. These can be tested with a multimeter by dunking them in different temp water.
