Im assuming that you mean power steering fluid is leaking... top off the fluid, replace cap, and have a freind turn the steering wheel back and forth while you check the hoses and lines for leaking fluid.

I have a kia sadona and need to replace my rack and pinion. Can I replace it without taking engine out???

To install a camshaft replacement sensor on a 2003 Kia Sedona you will need a screwdriver, a wrench, a break bar and socket, and a camshaft position sensor. To install, make sure the vehicle's ignition switch is turned off and disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Remove the air filter housing from the car by unscrewing the bolts that secure the lid. Rotate the crankshaft. Locate the cylinder head and mount the camshaft sensor onto the cylinder head.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Steering is very stiff. I have bled the lines and replaced the fluid. Started doing it just now and then and now it does it all the time would it be my pump?

why did you replace the fluid? it could be the pump, but pressure needs to be checked. when you turn steering wheel all the way to the stop, it should whine somewhat. Make sure the belt is tight.

This is a known problem and has been increasingly noted by sedona owners. Steering shaft becomes corroded making vehicle steer hard. They say due to salt but if you live anywhere it snows you cant avoid it.

This sounds like textbook steering rack failure. If the internal seals wear out the rack will leak fluid internally, causing the exact symptoms you're describing. These can be rebuilt, but it's hardly worth the effort. It's less headache and only slightly more expensive to replace it.

I had the same thing (hard to turn, especially in cold temps, wouldn't return to straight.....). Since the power steering fluid was full, I decided it had to be "gunk" in the fluid, so I took my '03 Kia Sedona in to have the power steering fluid flushed & filled (over $100 I think!).

No better. So I took it to another mechanic and he said that the "U-Bolt" had frozen up. He changed it (part was $117 and labor was 2 hours, for a total cost of $350ish) and it's good as new now!
