Question about Lexus LS 430

3 Answers

Up until recently my keyless lock worked fine. Now when i press the lock button on the key, i can hear all doors lock and then the driver side door unlocks immediately. The only way to lock the drivers side doos is to use the actual key and then it will not unlock by using the button. all other doors lock and unlock using the key buttons. The car year is 2002.

The spring or motor that controls the lock may be wearing out, causing the lock to pop up since it takes pressure to hold them down. Otherwise it could be a fault in the Anti-Theft device itself.

You must replace the door lock actuator.
Click here and follow the instructions for replacement.
I quote: "1. Drill a hole the same diameter as the new actuator rod in the wider part of the manual locking cam lever on the old actuator right next to the where the manual locking wire hooks up to the old actuator cam lever.
2. Cut the new actuator rod to fit your application. Bend the new actuator rod end the same way the manual locking wire is bent. Grind the rod end a little thinner as it is tight under the locking cam lever and it will rub on the housing otherwise.

3. Have the new actuator attached at the other end of the rod first. Attach the rod through the hole you made in the cam lever the same way as the manual locking wire is attached.

4. Reinstall the entire door locking mechanism back in the door leaving the actuator hanging out the access hole.

5. Attach the mounting strap to the new actuator using 2 long bolts place 2 spacers or multiple washers between the strap and the actuator this way
you can put the actuator just inside the access hole in the door (spacing it carefully not to interfere with the power window)
thus allowing you to screw the strap to the outer door panel.

6. You will need to cut a little of the white thin plastic protector shroud on the old actuator to make good clearance for the new actuator rod coming out through the door access hole.

7. Adjust the new actuator for locking and unlocking slack before fastening the mounting strap with screws to the door.

8. Splice the 2 new wires into the 2 larger wires coming off the old actuator (splice them in don't cut the old wires) (You may have to reverse the wires (before soldering or crimping) to make sure you have them unlocking & locking in sequence with the rest of the door locks)"

part available from Partstrain.
Regards.

This is not a fault with the security system - it is in the lock actuator.

It is activated by a solenoid that has failed and no longer has enough power to fully load the actuator spring to the lock position - so it pops back up.

Replace the actuator to fix your problem.

Thanks for using FixYa - please accept this answer to remove it from the work queue.

Program remote

The horn chirp can be disable by pressing the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously until the hazard lights flash, and no enable press the lock and unlock until the horn chirp.
To reprogram (enter new ID) key fob (keyless remote controller) follow the steps.
1. Close all doors and lock all doors
2. Insert and remove the key from the ignition key cylinder more than six times within 10 seconds. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash.) NOTE: Key should be withdrawn from ignition key cylinder completely each time.
NOTE: Do not rush the insertion/removal key cycling process. The side marker/tail/license lamps and interior illumination will flash twice when this step is accurately completed.
3. Insert key on ignition key cylinder and turn ignition key switch to "AAC" position At this time, the new ID code is entered and original (previous) ID codes are erase.
4. Press any button on the new remote controller once. (The hazard warning lamp will then flash)
NOTE: Do not press the button more than one time in the above step. If the button is pressed more than one time, the programming procedure will not be successful. The side marker/tail/license lamps and interior illumination will flash twice when this step is accurately completed and programming is successful.
If there is only one remote controller skip step 5.
5. Additional ID code entry Release the door lock, then lock again with door lock/unlock switch (In power window main switch)
6. Remove key from ignition
7. Unlock driver side door, open driver side door and then close the door. (END)

Central locking system

I have recently had this problem I believe this to has been caused by a fault in the drivers door lock assembly It seems this contains the remote receiver. In my case I think there had been some radio interference being the main cause. The remote system seems to be working OK, The door lock will still not operate with the key.
Remove and replace the fuse 25 resetting the ignition module. Starting the engine, switch off remove the key from the ignition, stay in the car lock the doors using the door button, press and hold the remote unlock button for approx 5 seconds, listen to see if you can hear the clicking of the door receiver when you press the remote buttons. Press and hold lock/unlock button. You may be lucky.
