01-02-2009, 12:11 PM ... so my 2000 F150 v8 5.4 triton is a great truck as I think anyone with one with one will agree. The only recurring problem seems to be the coil packs will go bad all of sudden, causing misfiring and a very bumpy ride. ... happened a few years ago, I replaced them all and the truck was good for 3 years.
Regarding the 2000 6.8 Triton. Following this diagram I pulled out the plug in cylinder 3 since code says mis fire on #3, the motor I'm working on is from a 2000 f350 with 115k on it, when I pulled out the plug theres a thin piece of paper came out with the plug its about 3/4 x 3/4 inches long stamped on it says cyl #5, the unusual type of paper feels like it's composed of Mica and something else which mics' blocks arcing so I'm thinking this little mica paper is from factory and this cylinder is actually number 5 and not 3 as diagram indicates. Best to do some research before following this since plugs and coils a real pita in these. Please advise if anyone else has experience a problem with this or if maybe this isn't for the 6.8 thanks
Number 2 is the seconded cylinder from the f font on the passenger side of the engine.
The passenger side from front to back is 1-2-3-4. The drivers side from f font to back is 5-6-7-8
