Since the hazard lights override everything in the car,the signal switch is not really suspect to me.look carefully for a broken ground in the rear tail light assemblies.those grounds are common to both circuits.
also check the flasher.

2001 monte carlo and my signal lights and 4 way flasher is making a xxxxxxxxx noise and sometimes they will flash and then the next time they will not sometimes the light will be on the dash and then...

most common problem is the turn signal/flasher module which is the hazard light switch on the dash. it is the cheaper of the two items also. you can try wiggling the turn signal lever when it makes the noise to see if it goes away, if it does then you have a bad contact in the turn signal switch on the steering column.

Sometimes the turn signal won't work. If I push the hazard light switch and turn it off, the turn signal will work. Also, help

This is a common problem. Replace the hazard switch. The turn signal flasher is built into it.

My hazards and brake lights work but my turn signals do not

ok my grandmother has a 1996 Monte Carlo and she had no brake lights and the turn signals barely worked! there is a part in the steering wheel that controls all of this and it cost about 220.oo dollars when it was all said and done cause you have to order the part from General Motors. Best of luck to you!!!!!!!

No turn singals

In a lot of cars, the turn signal relay (which also operates the hazard lights) is built into the hazard light switch. If the fuses are all good, I'd look at getting another hazard light switch and replacing it. They're only a couple bucks at a salvage yard, so I'd go to one and pull a couple out (just in case one of them is bad) and swap it in.
