You have a severe engine misfire , take it to a repair shop ,have it towed ! Don't drive it any more , will damage catalytic converter ! Just had to replace one on a vehicle because owner drove it , cost $800.00 .

SOURCE: How to reset the "Check Engine Light" on my 2003 Cadillac STS

Your car is equipped with an OBD II system and requires and OBD II scan tool to reset the check engine light. There is a port under the dash that it hooks to.

A very basic tool is available from a variety of places for about $20.(i.e ebay, Harbor Freight)

SOURCE: 2007 lexus rx350 ,vsc light on and check engine light is flashing

First check and make sure your gas cap is tight, if this does not resolve the problem read below.
A vacuum hose has become disconnected, more than likely due to having your air filter replaced. The VSC and Check engine light typically don't come on until after 150-200 miles after the vacuum hose was pulled out.
The fix: on the right-hand-side of the engine compartment behind the big plastic housing that holds the air filter you will find a black rubber hose that is not connected to anything. Squeeze the finger clamp on the hose and slide the hose back onto the half inch nipple on the back of the air filter's plastic housing.
In order for the VSC and Check engine light to be turned off, you will need to open the fuse box, right-side of the engine compartment, and pull the 20 amp EFI fuse for 10 seconds. This will reset the system. The fuse location is marked on the lid of the fuse box, also I believe the EFI fuse is the only 20 amp fuse
. This will help. Thanks, please keep updated. please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya

SOURCE: Check engine light is on check engine light

Take the vehicle to Auto Zone, advanced Auto parts or o'Rieley's Auto parts and ask them to use their scanner to read the stored Code from the ECM for you.

My kia check engine light started blinking on and off as it was doing that it started stuttering while pressing the accelerated couldn't make a hill acted like it was running out of gas I smelled fuel what...

Flashing check engine light can be caused by many things but it means there's a serious enough misfire to damage the catalytic converter. See this post on flashing check engine light

I have a 2007 Cadillac sts. I jumped someones vehicle, parked mine and now mine will not crank. The motor turns and all lights are working, but car will not catch

Jump starting is one of the unwise things to do with a fully computerised vehicle due to the danger of causing a damaging voltage surge. These days jumper cables are available fitted with an anti-surge device to reduce but not eliminate the chance of such a thing happening.

That your engine is cranking but not starting might be coincidence or the electronics might have been damaged. Only systematic checking will be able to determine what is wrong, I suggest the immobiliser is first on the list.

Did you pull on the wires ? Is the PCM - engine computer near the headlamp you replaced ? They may share a common ground . Check body grounds , Do you know what these are ? Black wires with metal eyelets bolted to the body under the hood in engine compartment !

Flashing check engine light

The flashing light is telling the driver the problem is serious enough to damage the catalytic converter.
You need to get the engine computer scanned for trouble codes to proceed.

06 Cadillac STS 3.6 liter engine light flashes when I accelerate, light goes out when slow down, please help

If it is the check engine light, you would need to have the computer scanned for trouble codes.
And it should be staying on when the engine is running.

While merging onto the highway when my car hit 3 and 4th gear the engine seemed to "stutter/misfire" during harder acceleration. Check engine light also flashed briefly during hard acceleration. Dur

Could be a transmission problem or something as simple as bad spark plugs.
The engine is under the most load when RPM is low and you are trying to accelerate, such as when it upshifts.
You should have the computer checked for trouble codes and hopefully that will point you in the right direction to test.
If the spark plugs have more than 50,000 miles of wear you might start with replacing them.

Engine light flashing cant go pass 30mph, also car shaking.. 05 sts Cadillac

It sounds to me that you have an extreme engine misfire and the engine control computer has gone into "reduced power mode" (The reason for which can only be determined by proper diagnosis).

If your check engine light is blinking, it is the automotive equivalent of posting in bold, underlined, all caps....

it is SCREAMING at you to get your engine control system checked out because you are in the process of DESTROYING SOME VERY HIGH-DOLLAR PARTS OF YOUR CAR!!! (If you have not already done that.)

Sorry I yelled, But I needed to make the point that the light has apparently been unable to make. Get it checked out and fixed ASAP!

2005 Caddy V8 sts no longer remote cranks. lights

I had the same problem with my STS. Go back through your programing menu and "check" remote start again. Somehow, mine defaulted to not allowing remote start feature. It was good to go as soon as I re-programmed it.
