Question about 2000 Volkswagen Beetle
The window goes almost halfway up then stops and goes back down. no blown fuses and switch is working??
Sounds like you have a bad regulator. this is caused by the cables in the regulator becomming dry and start to bind up and then break causing the window to free fall down.

I assume it goes up slowly. Spray a silicone lubricant in the track. You will need to do this every winter for sure.
