Easy fix NOT!!!!!!! at least that is what i thought. it is the rubber hose going to your rear axle to you're frame channel mine was so clogged that we could not get 125 psi. through it the main problem is that lines are probably rusted .i ended up replacing lines from the master cylinder back to the rear wheel cylinders including the lines on the front and also the rubber hoses on the front new calipers,rotors,wheel cylinders,lines and pads.

Now I've changed rubber brake hose and hard line to the T on rear axle, bled system and left rear brake still drags. All new pads and rotors all around and new calipers in rear. And great pedal.


the callipers actually slide on two pins that are part of the mount to the axle. this sliding action allows the callipers to centralize over the rotor disc
if you are experiencing a dragging brake then remove the pads and see if you can slide the calliper on those pins
if not you will have to remove the pins and clean the rust and gunk out of the holes in the calliper
they do rust up and seize which gives dragging brakes especially after fitting new pads.

Why is the emergency brake cable very loose


Probabily needs adjustment---
  1. Remove the screw covers, screws and parking brake trim cover.
  2. Turn the adjuster as needed to attain the proper adjustment.

Make sure the brakes do not drag when the parking brake lever is released.
  1. Reinstall the trim cover.
  2. Depress the pedal 2 notches.
  3. Tighten the adjusting nut at the pedal assembly until the rear brakes just begin to drag when rotated.
  4. Release the parking brake lever and check that the wheels do not drag when turned. The parking brake should engage in 3-5 notches when a force of 66 lbs. (294 Nm) is applied to the parking brake pedal.
  5. Lower the vehicle

I put new brakes in my saturn. i put new front calipers,rotors and pads and power bleed front only. i also put new brake pads in rear but did not replace drums.after all that i can't get a hard brake...


try adjusting the rear brake shoes but.....spin the rear wheels first is u get the feeling of the shoes grabbing then releasing ( the tire gets loose then tight as u rotate it) u will need to have the drums cut on a brake lathe or replaced...when u have this done , then adjust the rear shoes until u get a slight drag on the rear wheels..go pump the brake pedal to seat the shoes if the wheel spins free adjust the shoes more an repeat until they have a slight drag after pumping the brake pedal

Good question, on the antilock system is a bleader too and bleade it the same way you bleade the caliper. After all is done adjust the rear brakes, they should have a drag to them.

How do you fix spongt brakes?


quite easy ,remove the rear brake drums and clean dust out then rub down the lip on the edge of the brake drum with a angle grinder ,adjust rear brake auto adjusters manually so the drum just slides on and the shoes can be heard to drag ,then try the brakes and they should be hard and firm if still a bit spongey then try bleeding the brakes and then leave something on the brake pedal to hold them down and leave overnight and they should then be perfect

How do you adjust the brake peddle for more peddle


Is the problem your brake pedal is to low There is an adjustment for the brake light switch at the top of the pedal that could affect pedal hight slightly But if down a 1/2 inch or so i would suspect some kind of a problem with the brake system it self how well do the brakes stop the vehicleand have you noticed more of a drop in the pedal over time?

Hi,
Have your son pump the brake pedal until it gets hard. Then as you loosen the bleeder screw at that wheel tell him to let his foot ride the pedal and don't take his foot off until you tighten the bleeder screw.
You see, the pressiure he is building will force the airt out. Do this a couple of times until you get a good stream of brake fluid. He should be able to notice a good pedal again... I'm suspecting he has none or little pedal right now. Make sure you refill fluid in your master cylinder.

Sounds like the cable is stuck also check the catch on the foot pedel
