Question about 1992 Honda Accord

1 Answer

I have a 92 honda accord ex that will not start when it's a hot day. I open the hood and release the pressure in the gas tank. I wait about 5 to 10 minutes and it will start. (I used to have gas vapor problem in the cab when it's hot. The dealership said the charcoal canister gets overloaded with today's petrol.) Other than that the car runs great. thanks

92 honda accord bogs out when given gas

You should check for possible trouble codes with a code reader or scanner-would be OBD-1 type reader or scanner.
If no codes are present, it could be a problem with the fuel pump. To check that, have the fuel pressure tested.

After sitting during a warm day my 1999 Accord V6 will crank but will not start. Wait 10 to 20 minutes and the car starts normal. This happens randomly. It will go away for weeks then reoccur.

Replace the main relay. They run hot and with hot internal temps of the vehicle, they fail until they are cooled down. Opening the door or windows allows the hot air to evacuate, this in turn cools the inside of the car (and relay), then the car starts.

Where is the fuel filter in a 1998 honda accord ex sedan? the car is not running hot but it total shuts down and then will start right back up and go a little ways and shut down again

The Only Fuel Filter on your Honda is in the Fuel Tank. You have to remove the fuel sender unit from the tank. This is accessed by removing the panel under the spare tire. The suggested service is to measure the fuel pressure with the fuel pressure regulator disconnected and the vacuum line pinched. If the pressure is below 47-54 PSI the filter should be replaced.

92 Honda accord ex D4 light/acceleration problem

Change your main relay assembly under the dash on drivers side. I was able to get my small hands under there and change mine out readily--not easy to get to as I didn't want to take the dash apart, but I got it done. If you have other problems after then find you a used TCU unit and change it out (passenger side where they put their feet, pull the carpet up, you will see easy, easily replaceable).

My car doesn't start on hot days

Test fuel pressure and check gas tank vent lines from the tank to the charcol canister. Remove the gas cap and listen for a suction sound indicating plugged vent lines. You can use an aircompressor to blow the dirt out of the lines. Your car is old and it might have leaking fuel lines causing the vapour lock like symptoms.
