Question about 2006 Volkswagen Passat

2006 PSSAT...can open the trunk, but won't close

I can open the trunk and no problem. When I go to close it it doesn't especially in cold weather. I even carry a WD-40 can in the car. I think it's dumb considering the car is a 2006 PASSAT...not that old. How can I fix it? or Do I have to take it to the dealership?

Get it in the warm and spray in some lithium grease into the locking mechanism, this should help with your problem.

My trunk latch on AUDI A6 2006 WONT LOCK

I experienced a similar problem, usually when cold weather set-in. My mechanic fix the problem by taking the cover off the trunk lid and lubricated the locking parts located within the trunk lid.

My car won't start, every time it gets cold it does this???? the lights turn on but it doesn't turn over, last year I the fuse box went out because all the electronics in my car where using too...

One reason GM vehicles dont start, especially when the weather changes isdue tofaulty antitheft systems. Next time this happens, look for a light on the dash that says secury or antitheft. Picture might look like a car with a padlock thru the window, If you see any of these lights, that will explain why it doesnt start. Vw 2006 passat trunk won't close

this always happens to my 06 passat when its really cold, im talking 0 or lower. i try not to open the trunk in the winter if i can help it. Its annoying but in the summer i have no problems. I have herd of alot of other people having this problem, VW knows about it and dosnt think its a recall item for somereason, look for your fancy gas door to not open next, i know of 3 people that started having trunk problems and then the fuel door stopped working, not sure if it has anything to do with it or not. but It happend to me and now i have the auto fuel door disconnected from the inside of the trunk.
The trunk issue isnt anything big to worry about it seems intermittent. I found latches and there a little pricey thats why i just deal with it.

Trunk lid wIll not latch when it is cold. I can get it to latch after several attempts at closing it.

I would guess it needs a latch adjustment. The rubber trunk seal gets firm with cold weather.

My trunk will not close in cold weather without slamming it multiple times.

My guess is that the trunk latch needs some lubrication. Spay it with a good penetrating oil. If this won't help, the latch is adjustable, and could be in need of that.

VW Jetta 2003 1.9 TDI trunk does not want to open with remote My Jetta trunk recently started to give me problems without warning. I cannot get the trunk open with the remote. The trunk only opens manually...

If your lock actuator engages (you can hear the sound it makes) with the remote/electric button on the door, but the trunk doesn't open then the problem is likely a broken plastic arm that the electric assembly pushes. You can see it if you unscrew the inside cover from the trunk lid and try the remote. I started having the same issue with VW Jetta 2002 GLS that was rear-ended 8 months ago. My guess is the cracked plastic finally gave out in the cold weather.
