If your tcm, speed sensor, solenoid body or transmission relay fails your car will go into safe mode to protect the transmission. i swapped my cruize control relay with the tranmsmission relay in the fuze box . lost my cruize but now it shifts. i recomend taking it to your dealer and have them check the scan codes. you may have burned out the tcm "transmission control module" trying to start it hooked up the charger while the battery was still not charged up.

Fail Safe mode. Check under seat unplug control module see if it is wet with fluid . cost me $138.00 fee.
Engine light on than next day off may 2 day then on at same place drive kid to school.
issue with transmission fluid wicking up the harness into the control module and causing the module to malfunction. Usually, the harness from the transmission to the ETC module is replaced and the module is replaced provided the leak is repaired. In some cases this may be more than is actually needed but it usually fixes the concern. Transmission fluid does not actually damage the module and can be flushed away with board cleaning solvent or electrical contact cleaner as a first attempt. Always repair the leak before replacing a module.

The traansmission does not want to shift into a higher gear. The van has set a long time without being driven.

You may need to flush the transmission fluid, it may have set in a certain position for so long some gunk may have fallen into the shift lines, causing it to not be able to get fluid back there.

2008 Dodge Sprinter; key will not turn to start position

Same symptoms here. Vehicle towed to Dodge, been there a FULL 3 weeks, they seem stuck, telling me the part ( timing module? ) was bad, which releases the steering lock solenoid which in turn allows the key to turn among other critical functions.

I have read of this same failure over and over, so if there was a bad run of parts, they should have been identified and pulled from inventory.

Apparently, the dealership is stalling for reasons I do not fathom, and are not inclined to seek out advanced knowledge... just doing what the company tells em to do, which means I have no truck while they fail to be able to program these modules, one after the other.

So, it seems the Dodge dealer might either have a software problem with their equipment, or they got the procedures wrong for fixing it.

What they do not have is any curiosity or urgency to resolve the problem.

If I take it to a MB dealership, they will not honor the warranty.

2007/2008 Winnabago - View Sprinter Mercedes Chassis and Drivetrain. Stuck on trip with the shift lever stuck in low gear and transmission not shifting. It sticks in park unless you release it by...

only have manuals here in spain,it sounds like the computer control of the gearchange is playing up,either the antitheft or a fault somewhere is causing this to lock in.try this i know it might sound stupid but if your stuck it might help.disconnect main start battery both terminals and hold the two together for about 30s then reconnect and try again but make sure vehicle is locked up and key in your pocket before try it, ,just in case it locks itself .Failing which try locking and unlocking door with master 3 times slowly then jump in quick and start within 15 secs.If none of this works then call dealer and hope they can diagnose fault quickly.

they shift interlock is not releasing...possible cause a blown fuse or bad brake light switch.if you need to get it out of park to get to a dealer ther is a manual release..look for a small opening around the shifter...once you start the vehicle push a phillip screw driver through the opening and push the release...pull into not use this release constantly it can cause computer problems
