First, check that your oil level is full. Though it should not cause an overheat, oil does serve as part of the cooling system... Changing the oil should not have much to do with an overheating problem unless inadvertently the radiator, a hose or the cooling fans got damaged. Carefully check everything for leaks, make sure the cooling fans come on when hot.
After checking those things you will need to check the thermostat and the radiator for proper operation. If you do not have a blown head gasket one of these items are causing your problem. Before you ask...the water pump will work even when the seals are leaking or the shaft bearings are bad. If either of those two conditions exist the pump should be changed, otherwise it is not causing your problem.

I had this same problem and mine was a relay. I also have a 2000 grand cherokee and it is located behind the passenger side headlight. You have to pull out the headlight and then cut a hole in the plastic to get to it. It is just a little square one. About 1 inch by 1 inch. It actually sits on the inside of the fender but too high to reach from below. They only cost about $50 at the parts stores. You can give that a try. It worked for mine. Hope this gives you another option to look at.

HI.WELL I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START. FRIST IF IT WAS THE FLYWHEEL IT WOULD DO IT WHEN THERE IS NO STRAIN ON THE MOTOR WHEN DRIVING. THE SAME IF YOU HAD A BAD BEARING. IF I COULD JUST HEAR IT RUNNING, IT COULD BE A BAD OIL PUMP THAT COULD CAUSE IT TO RADDLE UNTIL YOUGET THE OIL BUILT UP ENOUGH TO STOP IT. HOPE THIS HELPS. JIMBO

Oil pressure gage at 50

if pressure is higher than what it normally is after an oil change, you may have used the wrong grade of oil (too thick). Foam could be from overfilling, or from water in the oil (maybe antifreeze getting into the oil?).

2000 grand cherokee overheating heater blowing out cold air

Generally this condition is the result of coolant loss, or failed thermostat. If coolant goes below cylinder head level, or thermostat remains closed, heat will stop working. Do not drive with this condition as excessive heat buildup in cylinder head can and will do serious damage to heads and or head gasket.
Find out where leak is and correct it. Change thermostat as it may also be damaged. Check for excessive steam from tailpipe or miss in engine, as these symptoms indicate a cylinder head problem.
