The radio in my 2005 chevy silverado is working, but there is no sound. It's like there's a short in the audio somewhere, because the sound will come in and out. It's hasn't been working for two days now. Have you heard of this before?
this problem occurs most often when there are problems with your factory amplifier, rather than the radio itself. other symptoms will be popping noises coming out of the speakers at random times. the cheapest thing to do is take it to an audio shop and have them bypass the amplifier or you could take it to the dealer and have them replace it.
check to see if you have bose audio, it will say bose on the door panel speaker grills - if you do the most common failure is the amplifer located in the center console.
