'93 Ford Econoline 150 E-brake pedal teeth gone!

I have a '93 Ford Econoline 150 and the teeth in the parking brake pedal assembly have worn out --- so pressing the pedal just slips and the brake doesn't engage. Apparently the part is no longer made and my mechanics have been looking for weeks for a replacement from salvage yards. (They found one earlier, but most the main cable was cut off and, with the remaining slack, there was no reasonable way to attach the assembly to my van's cable!)

Any suggestions how to find a decent replacement part...or other alternatives? I often need to park on steep grades, and am driving without a partner who can shove chocks in front of the tires before I take my foot off the brake. Not using the parking brake makes shifting the steering wheel transmission lever out of Park a damagingly-hard-sounding pull and thunk!

    Hi x18wheeker60,

    Thanx for your tip!

The needed part is labeled "6" in the diagram at the top of the page at link:

But, unfortunately, the links to parts (below the diagram on that webpage) don't list any info for that particular part!

    Any further ideas? Many thanx

93 E150 wont go into drive

Check your switch at the top of the brake pedal lever. This sends a signal to release the gearshift from Park to the rest of the gears.

1997 E-150 changed master cylinder and booster now can not take out of park. what is the booster to cylinder adjustment

Sounds like under the dash you may have moved the switch that releases the electronic solenoid that disengages the shifter look near the brake pedal and look for a button that is not being released. It should be plastic.

My 93 ford f150 4x4 emerg brake will not push the brake pedel down and it comes back up

Hello Phillip.
The ratcheting mechanism is broken or worn.
Often it can be a spring that pushes the locking piece into the teeth.
If you use your emergency brake often it may be worn and should be replaced with a good used or new assembly.
Other than being hard to twist your body into they are relatively easy to replace.
Most people don't use these on their vehicles so a good used one could be a good option.
Best of the festive season to you.
