The problem is that the speedo sensor is faulty. Both manual & autotransmission car have the speedo sensor located on top of the transmission unit. For auto transmission car, the " S " button light ( green ) at the meter panel will continue flashing. To remove the sensor unit, remove the cable connector on top of the sensor, remove 2 holding nut that hold the sensor to the transmission unit and then take out the sensor. Installation is the reverse of the dismantling steps.

I know that on the manual transmission cars there is a speed sensor that is located on the transmission. If that has failed that might be the problem. I am not sure on automatic transmissions if that it is the same or not. But at least it is a spot to check and start with.

Usually it means the speed sensor in the transmission is failing.
The blinking light means your overdrive may not work.

The transmission's electronic control module is most likely bad I had a 1989 prelude that had the same issue I had to replace the TCM on it after the S3 light came on but my problem was a problem shifting, if you have a electronic speed sensor for the trans. and not a speedometer cable the speed sensor may be bad if you have the cable type change the TCM (transmission control module)

My speedometer stop working, d light blinking and check comes out

These Accords have common problems with both the instrument clusters & the speedo drive Transducers. It is the Speedo Transducer I would head for first
though,it is located on the top rear of the transmission, over the diff assembly. This is in between where the driveshafts enter the transmission.
It is held in by 1 x 10mm bolt & has an electical connector clipped in to it which from memory has 3 wires. The connector is somewhat triangular in shape
& should be black. Check that this is not full of coolant from your recent thermostat change, however I doubt that this is the problem as they are sealed
pretty well. The chances are it is just faulty. This unit creates an electrical pulse which tells both the speedo & the transmission computer how
fast the vehicle is going. Without it the transmission computer will register a fault (D4 lamp flashing). It also informs the engine computer that there
is a problem which will activate the Check Engine Lamp.

Sounds like a loose or burnt wire going from the transmission to the engine. Please try to remember who changed the oil last and ask them if they will look for a loose or burnt wire. The professional oil changers get in a hurry and might have hit an important wire to the transmission. How many miles would help answer the question more thoroughly.

Try to find the speedo-cable from the firewall down the the transmission. Usually on auto trannys the speedo head (the signal generator which is a gear basicly) is located on the top of the tranny, of course attached to the speedo cable. If it's a 'drive by wire' car and there's no cable - it will require more investigation.
