Remove the bracket that the hood release cable handle was on inside the car, remove the stub end of the cable (u may have to cut the cable sheath back to expose cable more) and then use a pair of vise grip brand pliers to pull on the stub of the broken cable, it helps is someone pushes on the top of hood over the the latch to release the pressure of the hood spring that pops the hood up when the latch is released.. If this doesn't work you will have to get at the latch from under the car, it will need to be on a car lift to do this.

1999 BMW 528i interior hood release cable missing how do I open hood

The hood catch is so well inclosed, you won't get the hood open manually. No tricks here. There has to be a release inside the car. If the handle is just missing, and you can get to the release cable, just pull it with a pair of pliers.

HELP!! 1992 buick lesabre Hood release cable snapped. no way to get hood open..

You may need a professional to get this hood open, and it will likely need to be on a car lift. Try this if you are handy, try removing the driver side fender well liner for access to the latch.

1. Remove bumper.

The hood on my 1997 bmw 328i doesn't want to open. It's been sitting for about 2 years. Whats the best way to open it?

have someone "jiggle ' the hood near the release while "jiggleing " the release at the same time better worded bump on the hood rapidly , if no then check release cable for broken plastic , if so then manually pull cable with pliars of some sorts

Can't open hood - Broken release cable

You have to gain access from underneath with a socket wrench and long extensions to take off the top part of the release that is mounted to the underneath of the hood.

Hood release won't release hood on my 92 chevy c-10. any suggestions as to how I can open it.

You'll have to see first if the cable has broken at the release lever, if so, use vice grips or something similar to pull on the cable that is sticking out & it should open it. Normally this works it it has broken as that is the wear point. If it isn't broken there or you can't see where it is broken, or even worse, it it is just loose, then you'll basically have to get access to that cable somehow & pull on it. There is the off chance that you can see the mechanism from the front through the grille & can fish the wire out to pull, or use a coathanger to pop the latch. If all else fails, you'll need to get the replacement part, then carefully cut through the cable you are replacing so as to preserve the inner cable enough to pull & open. The whole idea of the remote hood opening was to prevent anyone from easy access. good luck

Hood release cable broken, how do i open the hood ?

I have a similar problem with my 1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. The way I open the hood is to reach my hand between the radiator and the front of the car, and for me there is a bar running right up the middle if I follew that too the top, and on the drivers side of that bar should be the hood release, and I feel around till I feel the hood release cable, and then I push on the lever that the cable is attached too, most of the time this works. Hope this helps.
