Question about BMW 318
Remove the bracket that the hood release cable handle was on inside the car, remove the stub end of the cable (u may have to cut the cable sheath back to expose cable more) and then use a pair of vise grip brand pliers to pull on the stub of the broken cable, it helps is someone pushes on the top of hood over the the latch to release the pressure of the hood spring that pops the hood up when the latch is released.. If this doesn't work you will have to get at the latch from under the car, it will need to be on a car lift to do this.
