1990 Pontiac 6000 clicking with ignition switch in ON position, will not start or even turn over, even with boost ?

As stated there was nothing when trying to start, only clicking when in "ON" position, not in "START" position. So not much chance it was ignition related, thank you for the suggestion though.

I have found the problem though.

It was an intermittent short in the Battery itself, with the side post connection only, the battery works fine from the top posts, go figure.
Have replaced the battery and all is well.

    Thanks for the input.

One more thing though, I do still have an electrical problem though that the new battery did not fix.

There is still a fluctuation in the voltage when using the signal or power on/off anything electrical, I know this is probably a voltage regulator problem but have no idea which one on this car or how to test the regulators (there are several on this car) ?
    Any ideas guys/gals ?

My 2002 Pontiac Sunfire won't start, not even with a boost. Any idea? No electrical input at all.

If there is no power to anything when the ignition is switched on then you have a fault in the main power circuit which could be the main fuse is faulty. Check the main power fuse's positioned by the battery. Also check the main power and earth/ground cables from the battery.
Hope this helps.

Car dies, but when I charge the battery the 1990 trans sport van dies. first the interior lights stay on then engine won't turn off so I have to disconect the battery for the van to stop running

The interior light and ignition can not be related. Just coincidence.

The interior light has a 3 position switch, off, on with door switches, and on all the time. So either a door switch is shorted on, or the switch by the lamp is shorted to the always on position.

The ignition is weird but easily diagnosed. First check that the ignition switch itself turns on and off, by using a test light.
If that is normal, then take out the ignition control unit and have a place like Autozone test it. It has a relay the ignition switch is supposed to turn on and off, and it could stick on, even after switch is off.

My 1990 Pontiac Bonneville SSE won't start. The lights and radio turn on, but when I try to start it all I get is a bunch of clicks. I've checked the battery connection, which was good. I also tried...

it sounds as if your battery is defective. when you boost it, it starts off the other vehicles voltage. it stays running from the output of the alternator, but will not take any charge. have the battery load tested by a shop to confirm. good luck!

My 1990 Pontiac 6000 conked out while driving and it couldn't restart. It wasn't even firing but it was cranking. It's a 3.1L fuel injected engine, any ideas to what the problem could be?

You burnt out ignition coil packs on drivers side rear of engine. Should be 3 packs with two plug wires attached. Replace them and and drive away.

I have a 1990 Pontiac 6000 LE. The Car ran great

Sounds like you are loosing fuel pressure intermittently. Is there any damage to the fuel lines? Maybe the fuel pump is on its way out (loosing prime.) If you find this helpful, please rate, thank you.

Crank position sensor bad?
Are you sure the fuel pump is working? Might be the sending unit in the fuel pump that is bad. Clogged lines, clogged fuel injectors, clogged fuel filter, all things that could be checked.
