Your best bet would be to find a Tech like this guy , with the right diagnostic equiment . Door Locks Go Crazy 1 Unless you know how to do automotive electrical testing . Your door ajar switch is a input to a body control module . or GEM as ford calls thiers .
Door Locks Go Crazy 2 Your auto lights are controlled pretty much the same .
Electric Testing Techniques You Need to Know

Do you know what DTC"S are ? diagnostic trouble codes ! You probably have a door ajar switch problem . You need a factory or professional type scan tool to check these codes
B1322 Door Ajar Driver Circuit Short to Ground GEM/CTM REFER to Section 417-02 . B1323 Door Ajar Lamp Circuit Failure GEM/CTM REFER to Section 413-01 . B1325 Door Ajar Lamp Circuit Short to Battery GEM/CTM REFER to Section 413-01 . B1330 Door Ajar RF Circuit Short to Ground GEM/CTM REFER to Section 417-02 . B1334 Decklid Ajar Rear Door Circuit Short to Ground GEM/CTM REFER to Section 417-02 . B1338 RR Door Ajar Circuit Short to Ground GEM/CTM REFER to Section 417-02 . • The Autolamps Are On Continuously
  • Circuitry.
  • Headlamp relay.
  • Light sensor amplifier.
  • Go To Pinpoint Test H .
  • The Autolamp Time Delay Is Inoperative
  • Fuse(s).
  • Light sensor amplifier.
  • Headlamp switch.
  • Circuitry.
  • VERIFY parking lamp operation. If OK, REPLACE the light sensor amplifier. If any parking lamp concerns exist, Parking, Rear and License Lamps REFER to Parking, Rear or License Lamps.

Do you see how complex these systems can be for someone that doesn't deal with these problems on a daily base's ! Check for codes an if there are any , doing the diagnostic's associated with it . Without doing the diagnostic's you could replace parts all day long an not fix the problem .

My 2004 Pontiac grand am se1 acts like door is open and interior light stays on also does t lock on its own when in gear and lights don't blink and horn not honk when locking with key bob

Door ajar switch problem more then likely or wiring issue . The BCM - body control module won't turn off interior light , let door lock because it think's the door is open . The door ajar switch is a input to the BCM .

The first thing would be to have it checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes . Also check with an enhanced scan tool to see if the BCM shows ajar switch data (open or closed ? Do you know about body electronics ?

Door ajar light

I found that when I opened the right rear door several times I could get the problem to clear. Once I got the problem to clear I tired to keep any one from using that door. Once they forgot and opened that door again I was back in trouble again! I finely replaced the switch in that door and problem was corrected. Wish you luck this can drive you crazy..

Door ajar light is on and doors keep locking

You need to have the Body Control Module scanned to determine the cause here, guess work won't solve the probem.

Check door switch connection and operation.
If the door switch is part of the door lock mechanism, within the door itself, then remove door panel, disconnect the mechanism's electrical connector and re-check that the interior light no longer comes on with that door ajar. If it doesn't, then you likely have a faulty door lock mechanism, which you will have to replace.
This faulty switch will also have the affect on your random central locking function.

This is not likely connected to the engine performance issue.

Even after making sure all doors are properly closed, put van into drive , doors will not lock automatically and door ajar chime stays on continuosly.

Most likely, the auto-locks aren't working because it thinks one or more doors are open.
The door ajar switch is located inside the rear door face along with the latch. They can tend to get dirty and sticky over time. Using your favorite petroleum based lubricating spray, shoot it directly into the door latch area, being very liberal. Open and close your doors several times to make sure the switch is working freely. You should do this one door at a time so you can diagnose which door is causing the issue in case it resurfaces. Should be good to go.

Good luck.
