Question about 2002 Ford F150 Regular Cab

Clicking noise coming from relays in fuse box

I have a 2002 Expedition. Every now and then the relays start tapping in my fuse box. This causes lose of power resulting in me not to being able to start my SUV. I have pulled out and replaced the tapping relays (top two far left) but it seems something ahead is causing this problem because when I pulled out the problem relay it just makes another one tap. I've learned that turning the headlight switch on silences the tap but doesn't allow me power to start. If left alone with headlight switch on, it eventually clears itself. But sometimes I have to disconnect battery to reset. (if anyone can tell me where the main power relay is, I would appreciate it because this is the truck my wife drives and she has gotten stranded twice this month because she is unable to reset). I read other post about bad window motors making this sound at the fuse box and oddly enough when this problem presented itself my passenger window STARTED working. It didn't work when I bought the truck but now it mysterious works. Maybe someone can direct me to the power window fuse or relay, it could be the problem. I would love a fuse chart for future issues. Even the Hanes book I bought doesn't have one. Thanks in advance

Have you noticed any water or other signs of a leaking windshield under the dash. It sounds like you have a GEM module problem, it bolts to the back of the fuse/relay box. If it is from water damage you will need to replace the fuse box aswell as the GEM (generic electronic module) don't forget to reseal the windshield.

I have a 2002 mercury mountaineer that wont turn over at all the battery is good and there's a clicking noise coming from the relay box what would that be

The clicking noise will be relays. Possibly a starter relay and thats normal. Sounds as if the starter moter may be the culprit. You have to check for start power at the starter solenoid while cranking before any further daignostics can be done. Sometimes tapping on the starter motor while holding the key in the crank position will start the vehicle. If so the stater motor is defective

What could it mean if I have a clicking noise coming from my console fuse box. It goes away after I turn the ignition off.

It sounds like it would be a relay, they are usually black or grey and square or rectangular in shape and will have 4-5 prongs when pulled out.

2002 ford expedition- clicking from the relays inside car

If your saying the starter motor won't crank, make sure the battery has a full charge.
Note the starter components picture, If that is what you have, I'd check the starter relay switch. It appears to be underhood--firewall or rear of fender lining, passenger side.
See the two large lugs, that should be battery voltage to and from relay switch. The smaller terminal should be feed from crank position of ignition switch.
In the past on different makes and models I have used a large screwdriver to short between the two large posts at the relay switch, to see if starter motor will crank. If you try this, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set.
I may be coming in the back door to diagnose, but, It should lead to same place.

Dead Battery and clicking noise from passenger side fuse box back up lp relay.

Hello! The Automatic Trans-axle Internal mode switch (the switch that changes states when you shift to reverse) is more than likely the culprit...The relay that is clicking is receiving a ground as if you are backing up...That ground could also be in the wiring itself but the switch is the most probable cause...The wire colors in the connector plug to the switch are...Dark Green/White...Red/Black and Black/White...With the car in Park there is probably a ground on the Dark Green/White wire...I would suggest changing the switch...Guru...saailer

My 3000gt does not start. it makes a clicking

1. Loose battery or earth connections on bodywork/engine.

2. Starter stuck in mesh. (rock car backwards and forwards in gear to free)

3. Solenoid stuck. Tap lightly with a hammer.

4. Starter relay in or near fuse box faulty. Replace relay.
