I have 2000 chevy venture my power steering pully broke off i replaced it i have no power steering because it leaks the fluid i been driving like this 2 months an now my pulley has broken off again

I suspect that your pump needs replacing. The pulley would only break if the pump is requiring more force to be turned. This would also explain why you have no power steering.

2004 F150 2X4 crew cab The steering was hard then works fine now its back to hard again have no idea where to look the fluid is full. The pump whines when it dosent work some time just at a lost would...

It sounds very much like your power steering pump is going out. It was very good to check the fluid, something else that you may want to check is the tension on the belt that is turning the power steering pump. In few cases a worn belt can lose it's grip on the pully, especially if it's cold outside. Also, sometimes the tension pully is bad and isn't able to keep the belt tight enough to get a good grip on the pully.
If you are sure the whining is comming from the power steering pump, you will most likely have to replace it.

I hope this helps you.

The power steering is out and I can hear a pulley going bonkers. There is a squealing sound like a belt isn't catching, and also an oscillating sound like a pulley is loose and moving back and forth or...

i am having a similar problem. my power steering pully is loose. im pretty sure i have to replace the pump and the pully however my power steering still works but the belt squeals.check all the pullys they drive the belt or belts. its usually always either the tensioner thats the pully that allows you to remove the drive belt or the power steering pully which sucks the most because you must remove the entire power steering pump to replace the pully and since you have to go through all that trouble you might as well replace the entire power steering pump as well. i am not a mechanic so try and find more information.

While i am driving the power steering got stocked up

hi from uk assume you mean the power steering suddenly went heavy as if power steering not working ? can i assume you've checked fluid level in case there has been a loss of fluid fro reservoir ? if ok ? then your fault may well be the power steering pump drive (fanbelt)belt the pump is driven by a small belt from the water pump pully at the front of engine and it may have snapped? or simply come off for some reason? however this is a simple replacement d i y job and if you have spanners 12mm combination you can do this job 1/2 hour ? may i suggest you also check the other belt which drives water pump+alternator from crank pully too as this may be on its way out ? and if it does fail you will lose p/steering again along with water pump andno circulation of coolant ! and the aalternator will not be charging either hope this helps/inspires you and if you req info on these belts renewal ? by all means come back ? best of luck from uk

I had the same problem with my 98 Cadillac Deville. I changed the power steering pump and the hose that runs to the rack. The problem was solved, loud noises and whining stopped.
