Question about 2004 Chrysler Pacifica

1 Answer

Had the engine light on for a while, and went to auto zone to pull the code. It came up for the egr... the guy told me that a dealer may have to fix the problem, but I could look for a repair shop that will do it. It will probably be cheaper. The dealer told me they charge $103. 00 just to pull the code, but will put that toward any repair. They also said it may just be a sensor that needs to be reset. What are the chances it is the valve, and what should I expect to pay for this repair?

Check the original window sticker for the ACTUAL Federal emission coverage period,

You may able to get it fit for free.

EGR valve can be clean if you are will to get dirty.

Carbon build up inside the valve and the passage tube is the most common cause to have high Nox on emission test.

As long as the plastic diaphragm/membrane is not rip then you CAN clean it out.

EGR position sensor can be also a common problem to cause the OBD-II code,

A small amount of WD-40 can help lube to EGR position sensor.

Good luck

Put it on a dealers computer and they can pull out any codes that auto zone can't. It could be a computer problem

Egr sensor

Without knowing what the actual code is, I can only give you general info.
No trouble code tells the mechanic what the problem is. Only what to test or check. So O'Reilly was wrong if they said the code told them the injectors were clogged. And AutoZone was not right in saying the sensor is bad, the sensor MAY be bad.
The trouble codes direct the mechanic as to what to check by saying the sensor is not sending the right data or signal, or the computer can not control a component correctly. In your case, the EGR sensor measures pressure and flow for the EGR valve. The valve may be faulty, or the sensor, or a hose in between.
So the EGR system would need to be checked out to determine if a component needs to be replaced or not.

Check engine light is on took it to auto zone they said it was my egr valve and i replaced it and check engine light still on........ is it any other sensor that, the egr could have trigger

The check engine light will not go out on its own until usually after 20 or so starts. You need to back to Auto zone and have them hook up the analyzer again and clear the codes (they will do this for free). If the problem was your EGR valve, the light will then go out.

Toyota T100 OBDII Code P0450 - Pressure Sensor Malfunction

P0450 deals with the Vapor Pressure Sensor, in the fuel tank vapor circuit. Buying a charcoal canister would not cure this.
Go to a Toyota dealer and tell the parts guy that you want a
Vapor Pressure Sensor.
It is on the vapor line, before the charcoal canister.

After you replace the sensor, remove the EFI fuse to clear the code.

I hope that this answers your question.

2000 Honda Accord EGR Valve Error P0401

Jason,
-after you change the part you have to reset/clear the code

-this can be done by either:
(1) using the OBD2 code reader that Autozone used OR since option 2 (below) is very quick
(2) disconnecting the battery for about 30 seconds (this will delete all codes/radio presets/etc) but it will also clear the 'check engine' code
-this is what I do AFTER i write down my radio station presets :)

-hopefully the new EGR valve resolves your issue after you CLEAR the code
...but that code just means a an insufficient amount of Exhaust Gas recirculation (pressure difference) used to keep the emissions in check
-if it comes back, then there are a few other fixes to try also

-let me know if you need further assistance
-please remember to rate me `fix-ya`if it works
thanks
