Wow no year.... ill toss coin and answer for 1st year.
the throttle body has throttle valve and shaft
on end of shaft is throttle cable to right toe (gas pedal)
and other end goes to the TPS. mounted to TB side.
on many cars old,,its calibrated, don't play with screws
until you read the FSM book on how to do that.
on modern cars the ECU learns the TPS settings
auto calibrated and learned.
not this relic. (efi wise)(end coin toss)

Was it lined up right as the trigger point for the sensor is important. Is the fly wheel fitted one position only that the bolt holes line up or will it fit no matter which position it bolts up Line up the flywheel trigger with the sensor after you have put the engine to Top Dead Centre.Put at tdc and see if the trigger and sensor are together.

Normally attached at opposite end of throttle linkage. Remove your air cleaner intake hose at throttle body, and observe throttle plate that opens & closes as you press accelerator, it will be at the end of that, on outside of housing.
SOURCE: location of throttle position sensor
the throttle position sensor is located on the side of the throttle body even with the throttle plate.
