Check engine light on

They told me code#P0141 as Oxigen sensor. They told me the part itself would be about $260.00 and can get it only from Lexus . Total repair estimate, $400.00. Any suggestions?? Thanks!

If the car has more than one O2 sensor, how would I know which one is the bad one? Does the code P0141 identifies it?

Your car has several O2 sensors if you know which one it is i can help with getting the part. my price is between 141.28 - 146.46 a piece plus tax. you can get parts for your car anywhere. just need to know what you need. best bet is to get the vin number and call around and get prices. this item is gm / acdelco.

Visit your local Auto Zone, they should have the OEM O2 sensor for your car starting at $150.00 to $160.00. Auto Zone can also give you the step by step instructions to replacing the sensor your self with common tools or you can buy the O2 sensor socket for around $15.00 if not you can lone it out. It should take you less the 45 min to replace. P0141 is a code for an oxygen sensor, specifically Bank 1 Sensor 2. The price seems about right since it's the sensor after the catalytic converters.  Good luck and hope this helps. keep me posted, be glad to answer any other questions you may have.

Check with Autozone or O'reillys to name a few. There is such a thing as a captive part (dealer only). Another alternative is the Salvage yard. The latter is really easier than you would think, most of the time they have already pulled the part, will pull the part, or you can do it and learn where it is and how to remove it. In general you may need a special socket for O2 sensors.
As part of the Emisson devices it would have a longer warranty, something like 8 years and 100,000 miles. Check owners manual, call Corporate customer service.

I would buy a repair manual for your vehicle (chiltons or haynes) for $20. then go to Ebay or Amazon and search for your part. Make sure you choose a reputable store so you get a good product. Your price should be at least cut in half. Good luck

Service Engine soon light on - diagnostic code says o2 sensor. What is an O2 sensor and is it hard to replace

You'll need to give us the specific code, in the format P0xxx. Just saying "O2 sensor" doesn't mean anything. It could be the heater circuit, fuse, o2 sensor itself, etc. Changing an O2 sensor isn't too hard but you may not need to replace it/them.

Please report back with the code or look it up at http://www.check-engine-light.com
