Question about 1992 Volvo 740
One- there is a relay that controls the action of the overdrive switch. If it is not functioning correctly the arrow up symbol on the dashboard panerl will not light up. If you press the button and there is a click behind where your fuses are, then the relay should be working. If it activated, the car will go to a lower gear (more rev's) like you wanted to shift down to get better power passing a car or up a hill.
Two- THere is a solenoid on the side of the transmission that activates the overdrive--I havbe found trash in one recently that prevented the tranny from going to the higher gear (fewer rev's)
