My 1991 pontiac firebird only starts and runs when you hold the key in the start position. As soon as key is released the car shuts off. I have replaced the ignition module and ignition switch, but the...

Sounds like something is getting power only in the start position.
If it shuts off like you are loosing fuel pressure, I would check the fuel pump relay for power and a ground signal from the computer. The computer grounds the relay for 3 seconds while cranking, then only if it sees oil pressure to know the engine is running. There may be a faulty relay that is affecting the ignition system too.

I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota Quad cab SLT 4x4 that won't start. The engine will turn over but, as soon as I release the key, it shuts off. The ABS and BRAKE dash lights stay on.

It could be a cam or crank sensor. Have someone plug a OBD II reader in and pull all the codes.
That will give you some idea.
Please let me know what you find.
