Try replacing your automatic transmission fluid to ease up the driving, if it doesnt change, try to see a mechanic to check on the automatic tranny. hope this helps

Engine revs is too high when in neutral gear

First thing check for engine control module fault codes, if you have a lean running code then you have a vacuum leak on the engine, this allows air to bypass the idle speed control system and raises the idle up. Another issue is a sticking Idle speed control air bypass valve, but that is not common and vacuum leaks are.

Put in a new radiator. Flush the trans a couple more times and hope for the best. The Trans cooler on the radiator corroded through ,and you may end up having to rebuild the trans.

99 trooper with TOD how do i know if it is on

Power drive delays the shift points for upshift of the automatic transmission. It will degrade fuel economy, but you'll get more peppy performance.

Winter drive will only engage if the vehicle speed is below a certain threshold (I think 23 miles per hour) - and only if the vehicle is in Reverse, Neutral, or Drive. It causes the automatic transmission to start off in 3rd gear (rather than 1st gear). The purpose is to provide power, but not torque to the tires. In winter driving, torque increases the probablility of the tires spinning. The vehicle will seem to be VERY sluggish when winter driving is engaged - which is completely normal behaviour. It will automatically disengage when vehicle speed increases above the threshold.

if it is jumping gears, the gear box will not do that, it is more than likely your sedondary inside the transmission.
