Question about 1993 Mazda 626
I have mazda 626 1993 2.5L, driving to work. Three lights on the dash came on all at once (abs, charge, rear). Alternater is running full on with the charge light on, when ran for a few min the alternator starts to over heat and smoke. non of the rear lights are out, all work fine. and abs system is fine. The lights only come on when i get the rpms over 1000. when running under a 1000 all the lights stay off. Any ideas?
It can be as simple as the funny belt tensioner on the alternator!
I hope you got a simple volt meter to check the voltage.
12.8-13.6V is a health battery.
Get someone to help you to put tension on alt. belt.
If it does not look good then change it.
Double check all belts.
The should not give over 1/2" I like to keep them 1/3" of less.
Tighten all connections.
Pull spark plug cap one at at time to check for corrosion.
The coil can cause a lot of problem.
Spend time to grounding and secure all coil boot.
