    Do you then think that this is not a ruined transmission, but just in need of proper service?

First,look for an fashion transmission shop that will do REAL transmission filter change,

DO NOT use the quick flush machine.

It will kill a good working transmission.

=================
1/2 hour before your appointment,add a can of Transfix (blue can) to free up the particles and lube the passage.

Drive gently, and pass though all gears when there is no traffic,.
=================

Ask the shop to blow out the trans line + cooler.

Use Amsoil ATF if you can handle the price,

Do rear diff lube.

Check + lube WORN OUT universals.........

Good luck.

Remove the transmission pan, change the tranny oil filter & adjust the low-reverse band. Any chilton or haynes manual gives the tolerances & step by step procedure to effect repairs. You will need approx. 7 qts. of tranny fluid. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Common problem probably a 4L60E transmission The low and reverse clutches are the same ones The forward clutches are another set and then there are the 3-4 clutches in another pack. So you probably burn out the forward clutches or could be a stuck valve in the valve body. Time for a transmission specialist.

If you are engaging your 4 WD at over 55, that in itself may be a problem. Driving over 50 in 4wd may not be a good idea and almost impossible if you are in 4wd Low. You will be straining the rpm limits in 4 wd Low - and everything else in your drive train. It will also be a strain in 4wd High to a lesser extent. (I am assuming you are talking MPH)

I would begin by replacing the filter if its not new, 2 possibility of issue, faulty shifting module or defective transmission rebuilt. just because it has been rebuilt does not mean the individual work on it did a good job. the less cost effective way is to locate used modulator from ebay or junk yard, if that does not rectified the issue than more likely it will be the tranny. the bad part is that I dont know of a company offer a bench test for the tranny modulator.

2000 Chevy Blazer will not move in reverse

Your going to have to take to a transmission shop and have the blazer scanned for the problem, You could have a broken sun gear which is common or I have also personally seen/fixed a 99 4L60E that had a broken reverse servo piston,it is the piece that engages the low/reverse band under a cover in the valve body area,a piston with a band engagement pin. Anyone that has this problem can have it repaired in the vehicle,its worth checking BEFORE replacing the trans unless the fluid is burn't or there are other symptoms present.  Good luck and hope this helps. keep me posted, be glad to help.

Reverse engages HARD!!!

Check for trans codes then I would suggest a fluid change if there are no trouble codes, many times these kinds of problems are caused by a little piece of dirt causing a shift solenoid to stick.

C 6 transmission

Forward drive in the C6 requires both the forward clutch AND the low/reverse, one-way clutch, or intermedaite band to engage. Since you have reverse but no forward, the forward clutch is most likely the problem, since it is needed only for forward speeds and does not affect reverse. Sounds like a trans rebuild.
