You may have a bad connection in the overdrive switch on the shifter try shuting it off and turning it back on after it happens

1994 Buick Custom Regal 3.8L I changed ****** Filter and fresh fluid in it will go fine Thanks. But now at 60 mph rpm is 3,900.Maybe the overdrive is out? Any suggestion. Thanks.

Just having overdrive out would make it rev that high. It sounds like ur stuck in maybe 2nd gear. Did you add to much trans fluid possibly?

well as far as the trans filter and fluid they make a import blend for honda and toyota autozone carries it made by castrol and they are fairly easy to change as far as your power issue try doing a tune up on it

Slips out of gear or down shifts by itself and once it stayed in 3rd gear auto trans with 98000mi just started yesterday no warning check engine light is on

Automatic overdrive and/or torque converter failure. Properly check your trans. fluid level. Might be as simple as that. It should be at proper level, and red in color. Hopefully all you need is a tranny fluid exchange service....do the filter as well. Hope this is helpful.

I have a 96 Ford Taurus GL (V6 3.0), with a trasmission problem.

try a trans fluss if that dosnt work then your bands on the trans or going bad. or if could be your computer is going bad but most likly you just have some junk in your fluid.

Probably low oil pressure in the transmission or worn clutches.

Transmission shifting into nuetral

Check your fluid level. If the fluid level gets low, the pump basically pumps the pan dry in which the trans. valve body has no fluid to direct to keep in engaged in gear. Check your fluid level while running at operating temp. in nuetral. If this checks out ok, the trans. clutches are worn out to the point of the trans. no longer has the ability to stay engaged.
