Sounds like something broke. My older car is starting to do strange things also. I was told that the new cars are more electronics in the transmission to control shifting. and only a good mechanic or transmission shop will be able to read the codes to find the defective part. hopefully it is just a part that can be replaced with the transmission on the car. I suggest getting a referral from your mechanic.

After searching around, I found several posts that suggested reseating all the relays and fuses under the hood. After checking, I noticed nearly all of them were not seated well. I pushed them all down and I haven't had the problem since.

SOURCE: transmission shifts hard when the trac off light comes on
youll need to scan for transmission codes. the trac off light is a default of the trans going into a default safety mode. Bad speed sensors and simple little bolt on items like that can cause the condition but only way to really nail it is with a computer.

i fixed mine by pulling each and every fuse in all the fuse boxes and replacing them with new ones. the hhr fuses have a tendency to work loose and cause all kinds of little problems. i searched the forums for the answer to the traction control light problem and never found an answer that worked until i talked to a "shade tree" mechanic in my area and he told me to do the fuse thing. been a month now and no more problems.
Testimonial: "The comments I left are the solution. The fuse thing does not do anything. It's a red herring. I replaced only the one that's associated with P0010 and It's been months."

It doesn't sound like a solenoid, check the universals and if it's not those, it is more than likely a linkage problem,
Please rate this answer. Thank you.

the tire pressure sensor has nothing to do with traction control. need to have system scanned and see what codes are in it and we can go from there
