Question about 2001 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

My 2001 jetta tdi starts and idles fine, but has no power in acceleration. I replaced the air filter and the mass air flow meter. Problem is not better. What could this be

Could be the Turbo has gone... that's an expensive replacement but look around the TDI Forums out there... some are able to fix their turbos much cheaper than replacing them

There is a ****** fuel restriction on the TDI, but I think your vehicle is being starved of fuel. You didn't say if you had replaced he inline filters, if not I can guarentee thats your fault with you vehicle. Our vehicle, that's deisil, never goes below 1/4 of a tank, because it starts to pull the **** out ofe the tank, and that blocks the filters quickly, check them first! Let me know if it

Does a 2001 vw jetta 2.0 have an idle air control?

No, it does not have a IAC, Confirmed with the Dealer. This is for the 2.0 GAS but it does have a Secondary Air Pump and a Secondary Air Pump Control Valve.

The Major problem with the 2001 Jetta GAS is the Mass Airflow Sensor.......

The TDI is a Turbo Diesel and is not a 2.0

I have 2000 VW Jetta 1.8 turbo, my car stumbles on acceleration, but run smooth at idle. I removed the air intake from the mass airflow sensor and the car died. Is the turbo bad or do I have another...

If you remove the mass air flow sensor then the car is getting to much air and the reason that it is dying is that the ECU is set for the engine to run with a specific air to fuel ratio, and if you have removed the breather element. or air filter then that can cause the slow or sluggish acceleration.

My volkswagon 2003 jetta tdi doesn't have any power when you hit foot pedal going up a hill it doesn't have power to make it

check air filter. good chance it is clogged also the shut off valve could have serious carbon build up both of these items are easy to look at. also unplug the Mass air flow meter if power returns or is better good chance it will be that. which will have been killed by a clogged air filter.

Check engine light and spottering

I think you should start by changing the fuel filter, and changing plugs and wires, air filter and just go from there. If you don't have an engine light on, don't waste your time and money. You should also check the timing, and the timing belt. If it jumps a cog, it'll cause all of the above symptoms. The mass air flow either works or it doesn't, and when it doesn't... you're walking.

Most likely Mass Air Flow Sensor. Could be oxygen sensors also but the mass air flow is more common

Loss of power on hills and from dead stop.

just install a new fuel filter and you should be fine.
