Question about 1988 Ford Mustang

1 Answer

The stop light switch keeps going out on my 1998 ford mustang. Is there a known root problem for this? I have had to replace it four times in the past 4 years, the most recently being 1 month ago, and now I have the same problem again. I also replaced the wiring even though the wiring is not burnt, and the switches show no signs of being burnt either. They just stop working.

Make sure switch is installed properly and it has the proper bushing in it. make sure the hole on the hydroboost push rod isn't damaged and crushing switch internals when braking. hope this helps

The top of my 1998 ford mustang covertible stop working. does not go up or down swith make no noise.

Make sure the parking brake circuit is closed. If your parking brake light isn't lit up on your dash, it's not closed. I have some issues with that switch on the brake from time to time. It won't supply power to the top switch unless the brake switch is closed. Hope this helps.

First check the light switch and brake switch. Under driver side is the rear light harness. Go to advance auto get a HAYES REPAIR MANUAL for mustang for that year I think they are all the same.

Driver side window on 2004 mustang stopped working

the window switches in the door can offten go bad just from sticky fingers. some times the are known to just stop working all of a sudden. it is also posible that the motor has gone bad, or more likely a bad conection at the motor or switch. the door switches on the mustangs are not the most sturdy switches. the tend to break loose and move around. u can test the motor by simply runing 12volts the the terminals on it. depending on witch terminal has power and witch has ground determins if the windo goes up or down. also check with volt meter or test light that there is power to the switch, just turn the key on and ground the test light and plug in the terminal that goes to that switch.

Brake lights stopped working 1998 mustang

Fuse panel is under the dash also as I have found with my own graceful daughter, there is a brake light switch that connects to the brake pedal itself. It is hard to get to and even harder to see but a lot of times these switches get bumped and they can not make connection when the brake pedal is depressed. Hope this helps

I change the day running light module in my 1998 mustang and the headlights still flicker

The headlamp switch or the multi function switch(turn signal, wiper switch) is causing your problem. Find out what switch is cheaper and replace it. I've seen the headlamp switch go bad more than the multi switch.
