You will need a good pair of 45 degree long neck needle nose pliers to remove the clips for the motor arms, and yes it can be a bit trying of ones patience and mechanical skill level.

sounds like a loose cable problem its difficult to get to and under the dash (ugh) you can try to get to the ends and retighten but it might also be failing and need replaced if you need to take dash off i would reccomend getting a repair manual from the library or auto or book store to show all of the screws and connectors
Hello, the crank position sensor or (CPS) censor is located directly behind the harmonic balancer (or fly wheel at the very bottom). The sensor is located on the right side of the harmonic balancer when facing the front of the motor. You must remove the harmonic balancer to replace the sensor. You must also re-align the sensor with 30 thousands of an inch tolorence, or your car may idle rough or may not start. I own a 1990 Buick Century and just replaced my CPS sensor last month. There is a trick I learned to reinstalling the new sensor. Let me know if you need that information.
The first thing you need to do before buying any parts is to remove the door panel and find out exactly what is wrong, the motor is a gear reduction unit and even if the motor works it may still not drive the output gear. The door panel is held on by screws and hidden clips, pop off any panels or light fixtures on the door trim, under those you will find the hidden retainer screws, then gently pull door panel at edges to disengage feather style snaps.
