Back in the day, a hose under the radiator cap ran across the top and down the side of the radiator. If the radiator cap had a pressure rating and spring of let's say 15 PSI, assume the radiator pressure went to 16 PSI; this lifted and opened the cap slightly and the excess anti-freeze drained on the road until the pressure dropped back below the 15 PSI cap rating. The most common cause for this was overfilling. Once this happened a few times, the level self adjusted to where it belonged and it never would happen again. Not being familiar with the Lexus system; it sounds as if they've gone a bit retro and omitted a catch/storage tank. Is there a white bottle with a cap that says "coolant", or "anti-freeze" or anything besides windshield washer fluid?

This hose connects the engine to the radiator. Coolant flows thru the thermostat located where the hose attaches to the engine into the radiator to cool it.

THE ONE INCH HOSE CONNECT TO LOWER SIDE RADIATOR YOU HAVE ONE SMALL HOSE FROM SURGE TANK GOES TO TOP RADIATOR NEAR AC CONDENSOR.LOOK AT TOP RADIATOR YOU WILL SEE SMALL TUBE STICKING OUT OF RADIATOR FOR SMALL SURGE HOSE.THE OTHER SURGE HOSE CONNECT TO A SMALL METAL TUBE THAT SCREWS IN THE THERMOSTAT HOUSING.

I have a 2004 Chevy Classic Malibu and was wondering on the coolant resevoir it has has a hose at the top where should that be connected or what is it for? When I put antifreeze in it runs out of the hose...

there should be one small hose going to the radiator from the resevor thats if the radiator has a cap on it if not then there will be 3 hoses two going to either the motor and the radiator and one that just hangs down so if any over flow from the radiator does not blow all over the motor.

Leaking radiator from engine cooling line on top of radiator. is there any way to re-seal?

Are you talking about the 2 inch water hose at the top ,or the overflow line about 1 half inch coming out of the radiator cap. If it is leaking from the radiator, replace the radiator, if it is coming out of the overflow, replace the radiator cap. If it is coming out of the top radiator hose then replace the hose

Sounds like the radiator is clogged, have the cooling system flushed, the water pump pumps water into the engine and it comes out the top hose to return to the radiator to circulate through it to cool, if the radiator is clogged the water pressure will build on the top hose, also look at the bottom radiator hose, if it collapses when you rev the engine the radiator is clogged, although sometimes the bottom hoses are reinforced with wire to prevent them from collapsing so just because they do not collapse it does not mean the radiator is not clogged.

Radiator explosion, lose hose, not sure where it goes.

Should the 2 hoses from the radiator. Top hose from radiator to head, 2nd from radiator to block slides onto the thermostat housing. If you have a 2nd fan that could also have 2 hoses to cool the automatic system. When filling up the radiator - it goes through that into the bottom pipe - into the thermostat housing - around the engine block - into the heater - back through the engine block & out the top hose back to the same cycle. DON'T forget that when you have lost water as you have keep the radiator cap off & let the radiator burp until all the bubbles come out. Sometime you may need to help it by squeezing the hoses, being careful when the engine gets hotter. Good luck

1999 dodge caravan coolant bottle/ hoses

is it on the coolant bottle or the radiator?

on your post . you said radiator but on the thread topic, you pick coolant bottle.

anyway, if its the radiator, there are two big hose connected, one at the top and one at the bottom . then tehre is another small hose that is usually at the top where you put the radiator cap and this is the one going to the coolant bottle.

if your talking about the coolant bottle, there is one hose connected to the top where you put the radiator cap and the other one on the cover as an overflow hose.

it could be just open or another hose connected to it just to direct the water downwards. but it is not connected to anything.

i hope i answer your inquiry.

tnx 4 using fixya,

If you are trying to solve an overheating problem this will not achieve anything, but if just to clean out dirty coolant this is how its done..
When engine is cold !!! with radiator in vehicle.
1/ Remove Top and bottom radiator hoses.
2/ Insert garden hose into bottom hose connection of radiator (Use a rag to help seal the connection) turn on water fully to reverse flush radiator till water comes out of top connection, repeat a couple of times.
3/ Reconnect hose to radiator , fill with clean water only.
4/ Run engine till it reaches normal temperature, then switch off engine and allow to cool.
5/ Remove bottom hose to drain system again, refit hose and refill with a good coolant mixture according to you climate.
