Question about 1997 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

I have a 1997 LeSabre. When I start the car the temp flashes of the display for several seconds. I can hear the actuator motor working behind the glove box. The AC will only come out of the floor vents and from the defroster vents. I have to manually move the baffle to switch heat and AC on the front passenger side. I've heard that I can press a series of buttons on the control panel to get the error code. How do I do this?

You can not get an error code like this from this car. Some of the older models had this but not anymore

Hello: The air mix door/temp door actuator has stripped gears and the force of the air by the blower motor is pushing the door to the Air Conditioning position. If you will remove the glove box and the panel under the dash and start the car and duplicate the condition you described you will see the action. you will need to replace the actuator. If you have passenger temp control then you will have two actuators, the one on the bottom for driver and the one on top for passenger.

You may have two problems. The temp. sensor for the outside air may be going bad and you will find it at the lower part of the ac condensor behind grille and bumper. You need to replace one of the blend door actuator motors there are three of them.

My air conditionerblows hot on driver side. cold on passenger side why

If the ac system is not low on freon, then a actuator motor, that controls temp on that side is not working.Replacing the actuator motor is a good job for someone,so you may not want to tackle it yourself. But get the freon checked to see if it may be low.

1997 Buick LeSabre Limited Edition, Dash vents do not blow air

ck to see if the mode vaccum actuator is getting vaccum, you will need to test actuator with a hand held vaccum gun, if actuator has failed you will need to replace, if actuator holds vaccum and it does not move the door your door may be out of position inside case or something could hold it locked in position. you will need to check door by hand to see if it moves freely.

1997 Lesabre starts but will only run for about 30 seconds.

Based on my experience working on LeSabres this is typically caused by one of several different sensors. Unless you have mechanic experience, along with a service manual and the appropriate tools I would highly recommend having it looked at by the dealership or a GM certified mechanic.
