Question about 2003 Hummer H2
You have to replace the shifter
Posted on Aug 21, 2009
Sounds like a bolt might have fallen out at the joint under the dashboard where the shifter lever meets the next rod. This bolt keeps the lever from moving the next component that will make the hummer shift. You should be able to push this rod to shift the car, make sure if you try that you are ready to stop or have the parking brake on. Let me know if this doesn't check out.

CHECK AND SEE IF THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE WORKING, IF THE BRAKE LIGHTS DON'T WORK THE PARK LOCK OUT SAFETY CIRCUIT SOLENOID DOESN'T RELEASE PARK, IF THEY ARE WORKING THEN THE PARK RELEASE SOLENOID ON THE TOP OF THE STEERING COLUMN IS LIKELY DEFECTIVE, IF THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE INOP REMEBER TO CHECK FUSES IN BOTH THE INSIDE AND UNDERHOOD FUSE BOXES.
Comment posted on Jul 14, 2009 ALSO TEST THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH AT TOP OF THE ARM THE BRAKE PEDAL IS ATTACHED TO FOR PROPER OPERATION A 112 VOLT TEST LIGHT IS THE BEST TOOL TO CHECK THIS SWITCH, THESE ARE AVIL AT ANY AUTO PARTS STORE FOR AROUND $6.
