More info, it is my daughter's car and I am trying to help her, I live in OK she is in CA.

This is more of what she said.

Here is what I can think of right now...

Won?t accelerate past 40 (even floored).
At times would sound like high rpms but not changing gears, at times sounds like it had died but didn?t (yet).
(Usually upon acceleration ) jerks around, sounds like it loses power.
    Makes occasional squealing belt sounds.
Sometimes sounds like it is trying to shoot gas into the carb, and then loses power.
Has died while driving several times, but always restarted immediately.

If you have engine management lights showing on your dash your car has gone into limp (or safety mode) and this explains your problem. In limp mode the engine is locked down as a safety measure to get you home and will not operate normally.

If this is the case the car will have to go to be scanned for error codes to identify the exact cause of the fault causing the limp mode condition.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate my answer. Thanks.

Is the check engine light on. the car might be in limp mode or you have a clogged catalytic converter, If the converter is clogged you may have a fueling or ignition problem also. Need tp take the car in

Like I said you need to bring the car into the shop, Even if we were to get lucky and figure this out she can't fix it and your not there to do it.

Some vehicles have a "Safe Mode" for safety purposes. This will make your vechicle go only 25 MPH. If you have any check engine lights on I would take it to the nearest mechanic asap!

Have a 2008 f450 and the exhaust system was just cleaned it still has no power and will not go over 25 mph it said to drive to clean dpf

To clean the DPF, the vehicle needs to be driven at 50-60 mph for an uninterrupted minimum time of 15 minutes. (Motorway?). If it won't go over 25mph that's a problem. You need a garage that has computer software, that can put the vehicle into forced regeneration. Other option is to have the DPF removed and the ECU reprogrammed, but there is a question about the legality of doing that.

At around 25 mph the car shakes however if I increase or decrease the speed it does it shake.

Hi Gurusam, Take the vehicle and have the wheels balanced as your first course of action. If the problem persists afterwards then have the suspension checked for any signs of ware on the joints and the linkages. I believe the first action will cure the problem. Regards John

My Blazer won't accelearte past 25-30 builds up speed SLOWLY until the speed of 25 it possible my air intake valve or exhaust system could be clogged? It is a 1991 S-10 4-door...

it is possible the converter is plugged, you might need to just take it in and have a backpressure test run, possibly a fuel pressure test as well

Not Ready for Smog test

it is not how many miles but the type of driving.

here is a OBD2 drive cycle test.

Generic OBD II "Drive Cycle" Most OBD II ("On-Board Diagnostics II") diagnostic monitors will run at some time during normal operation of the vehicle.
However, to satisy all of the different Trip enable criteria and run all of the OBD II diagnostic monitors, the vehicle must be driven under a variety of conditions. The following drive cycle will (theoretically) allow all monitors to run on (??) vehicle. (Note: Drive cycle specifics vary by vehicle!)
  1. Ensure that the fuel tank is between 1/4 and 3/4 full.
  2. Start cold (below 86°F /30°C) and warm up until engine coolant temperature is at least 160° F (typically requires at least one minute; up to 3 minutes).
  3. Accelerate to 40-55 MPH at 25% throttle and maintain speed for five minutes.
  4. Decelerate without using the brake (coast down) to 20 MPH or less, then stop the vehicle. Allow the engine to idle for 10 seconds, turn the key off, and wait one minute.
  5. Restart and accelerate to 40-55 MPH at 25% throttle and maintain speed for two minutes.
  6. Decelerate with using the brake [or the clutch!] by coasting down to 20 MPH or less, then stop the vehicle. Allow the engine to idle for 10 seconds, turn the key off, and wait one minute.

When i push the gas peadal down i have no power

If your maf was a problem it would not stop you from going more than 25-30 mph. If when you step on the throttle the and vehicle does not go faster, you can check to see if the exhaust is plugged. Perhaps the catylitic converter is not allowing gases to escape.
